By choosing Herdysleep you can rest easy in the knowledge you’re buying a mattress that’s good for ewe, good for the farmer and good for the environment.
Supporting Farmers
Working together
We believe it is important to preserve and protect a sustainable future for the Lake District’s upland fell farming community. We’ve set up a co-operative of local Herdwick farmers, buying 100% of the wool from their farms at a fairly traded rate, which means reduced overheads for the farmer and a better return for them. The farms keep small flocks in a lower density, which lessens the impact on the environment.
Herdwick Wool
Natural benefits
Our sustainably sourced Herdwick wool, with its natural spring and bounce, is partnered with cotton fibre to create the soft sumptuous sleep layer on the top of every Herdysleep mattress. As well as being naturally flame-resistant, wool is highly absorbent and able to wick away moisture, keeping you fresh and comfortable throughout the night.
Nature Knows Best
Natural fibres for healthier, natural sleep
Unlike synthetic materials, wool is breathable and able to wick away moisture and, because this makes it naturally dust mite resistant, it’s the perfect choice for allergy sufferers. As well as being hypoallergenic and antibacterial wool is also a fantastic insulator, helping to keep you warm in winter and cool in summer.
